About this report

The IHS Markit regional e-mobility profiles are designed to assess and compare key e-mobility markets. E-mobility is the concept of using an electrified powertrain to propel vehicles and is enabled by many factors, including infrastructure, legislation, and costs.

This report tracks the development of these markets to understand which countries are the best for e-mobility. For each country, the following areas are analyzed:

  • EV/PHEV/HEV registrations and top EV/PHEV model registrations
  • Legislation and incentives
  • Deployed EV charging stations
  • Country energy generation mix
  • Cost to drive and total cost of ownership

Electric vehicle (EV) adoption has varied uptake depending on the country. IHS Markit’s Regional e-mobility profiles provide an assessment of the key e-mobility countries and compare the development of these markets.

This report aims to address crucial questions like:

  • Which country has the highest EV uptake?
  • How does the total cost of ownership vary by country?
  • Which incentives and legislation are driving the market?
  • Has the deployed charging infrastructure influenced the market?

About this Service

Vehicle electrification is one of the most impactful and long-term trends in the automotive industry. For OEMs to comply with impending carbon dioxide legislation and regional emissions targets, alternative propulsion vehicles are entering OEM product portfolios. The automotive industry is in transition away from the conventional powertrain, with a long-term aim to fully decarbonize the vehicle parc.

Formerly called the Hybrid-EV portal, the IHS Markit's E-Mobility Service provides insight, context, data, and analytics for the transition to an electrified powertrain and associated infrastructure.

Users can quickly access key insights from market developments, put context around events and technological trends, dive into deep data and forecasts, and seamlessly drive analytics to support their most challenging decisions.
